President Yvonne Mastromano, Virginia Voice
Yvonne Mastromano joined the Virginia Voice team in January of 2022 as the Chief Executive Officer. Although she now feels that her feet are firmly planted in Virginia soil, Yvonne is an upstate New York transplant. Yvonne grew up in the valley of the Catskill mountains in Coxsackie, NY, a small town known primarily for the virus that bears its name. Despite its illustrious reputation, Coxsackie boasted an outstanding academic K-12 education system where Yvonne had the opportunity to graduate early and was accepted into the music program at Ithaca College at age 16. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s of Music degree with an emphasis in piano and a minor in voice. After graduating, Yvonne was recruited to be the Assistant Director at the museum where she had spent her summers as a tour guide. Three years later, she was promoted to Executive Director at Philipse Manor Hall in Yonkers, NY. After moving to Virginia, Mastromano decided to make a career change to broadcast television and was hired by the local NBC affiliate, WWBT-12. Yvonne had the opportunity to become the first person in Richmond to do live traffic reports and quickly earned the moniker of “Traffic Lady” while reporting during the morning and afternoon rush hours from a variety of locations throughout the region.
In 2012, she returned to non-profit work as the Executive Director for the Innsbrook Foundation. Nine years later, Yvonne left the Foundation when she was drawn to the mission of Virginia Voice. She is currently working to raise awareness, funds, and brand identity for the non-profit that provides services for vision impaired individuals. Yvonne also finds great reward in serving on the board with the City Singers Youth Choirs. When not working in the community, Yvonne enjoys spending time with her husband and their two sons at the family restaurant and at home while walking their two little fur babies.
